"Gankutsuou: the Count of Monte Cristo" is a story about a man who was betrayed by his closest friends and lost the love of his life. He returns, after letting a being called "Gankutsuou" take over his body, and using the name the Count of Monte Cristo he befriends a young boy named Albert (who is arranged to marry a girl named Eugenie) and moves to Paris where he begins to slowly exact his revenge. The story follows the Count of Monte Cristo as he slowly exacts his long-planned renvenge. With his followers, the Count of Monte Cristo uses his handsome looks and his overwhelming charm to make everything go his way. He seems unstopable. Using Albert as a puppet to get closer to Albert's father, who was the one who stole the Count of Monte Cristo's lover away from him, the Count lurches closer and closer to his ultimate goal.
The series is beautiful. It's the first series to be created entirely using Photoshop. There are many beautiful graphics, amazing dialouge, breathtaking storys, and heartstopping twists. It's a great series.
Has anyone seen the series yet? What do you think of it? How closely do you think it follows Alexander Dumas' original work? What will the Count do next? Does the Count truely like Albert, or is Albert simply his puppet? Discuss!
